Lawrence was born and raised in Nottingham, starting his career at an early age playing for Notts county. He signed for them at the age of 9 and was offered a scholarship when he was just 12. Unfortunately the centre of excellence shut down and all ties were cut loose. Lawrence then moved over the Trent to Nottingham Forest where he developed from 12-19. In his scholarship he played a number of first team friendlies against teams like Mansfield town, Derby County.
Lawrence was named the linchpin of the Nottingham Forest youth team when they made their fantastic run through the FA youth cup reaching the semi finals, unfortunately getting knocked out by Norwich City. Whilst at Forest Lawrence also represented England at u16, u17 and u18s where he received 9 caps/appearances.
After a year of being a professional footballer, circumstances have changed and Lawrence is now playing Semi Professional football but with an aim to get back into the Professional game in the not too distant future. Lawrence is coaching at Canoville Coaching alongside playing football at present for Carlton Town FC.
Lawrence has been with Canoville Coaching since 2014 and is a major part of the business. He is in various schools and has a great relationship with teachers and the children delivery the mentoring programme and running after school clubs. In September 2016 Lawrence was delighted to be offered the chance to coach Notts County U9s elite team where he has really excelled. Lawrence has completed his Youth modules 1 – 3 and has passed his level 2 Mentoring qualification.
During the summer of 2017 Lawrence completed his UEFA B qualification.
“I am delighted to be involved with Canoville Coaching. In the last 2 years I have gone from coaching a few sessions a week to now managing schools and development centres. It has been a great learning curve and the best feeling is seeing children enjoying their football and learning at the same time.”
